Laundry Worker

Incumbent works in the laundry unit and will demonstrate strict observance to proper infection control practices to include separation of clean and soiled work areas.
This unit is responsible for all linen orders being distributed to the Medical Center and collection of all soiled laundry to be transported to the Phoenix VA for processing.
Duties consist of:
a.
Working from quotas established for each Medical Center area, incumbent will assist in assembling established linen requirements from bulk quantities of standard use items received from bi-weekly deliveries from the Phoenix VA laundry plant.
Items such as wash clothes and pajamas will be paired, folded, counted, stacked, and stored.
Textile items such as linen bags and fitted bed sheets will be collected and consolidated into set quantities.
Other small quantity piece-work involves cutting rags and processing pillow cases, dish towels, and pack towels.
Each individual cart or basket will be covered to prevent contamination in transit.
Carts will be tagged for proper destination.
Carts will then be loaded onto trailers or truck (in a prescribed manner to conserve space) for a specified destination.

Incumbent will be required to load and drive a 26,000 pound delivery truck with laundry carts in order to transport both clean and soiled laundry to various locations on the Northern Arizona VA Healthcare System campus.
c.
Incumbent will launder specialty items; such as slings, cubicle curtains, and table cloths.

Incumbent is responsible for working in a sterile environment and preparing O.
R.
pack towels by inspecting, de-linting, folding, and bagging specific quantities for delivery.
e.
Responsible for full cleanliness and sanitation of work area and equipment.
f.
Performs small piece work or other jobs as assigned by supervisor.
g.
Participates in semi-annual linen inventories and performs other related duties as assigned.
h.
Incumbent may be required to assist in other areas as needed.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
