Safety and Occupational Health Specialist

The Northern Arizona VA Health Care System is recruiting for a Safety and Occupational Health Specialist.
The incumbent will serve under the Facilities Service Line at the main campus at the Northern Arizona VA Health Care System.
The duties for this position include, but are not limited to:
Identifies and eliminates fire hazards, unsafe work practices and occupational hazards utilizing a broad range of established concepts and standards in safety, occupational health and fire protection.
Develops, organizes, complies and maintains an information gathering system for the investigation, review and recommendation for appropriate remedial action, all reports of injuries and accidents on occupational safety and fires.
Provides documented statistical data to the VISN Safety and Fire Protection Engineer, VACO and/or Safety Manager as requested by the Safety Manager.
Organizes, directs, implements, evaluates and reports all functional and operational phases of the Medical Center's Safety, Occupational Health and Fire Protection Program.
The incumbent assists and advises the Safety Manager and the Facilities manager in all aspects of safety, occupational health and fire protection, and may serve as the safety Manager's alternate in the absence of the Safety Manager.
Plans, develops, promotes, administers and conducts training programs in general safety, occupational safety and fire prevention to all supervisory and non-supervisory employees and volunteers.
Training is presented utilizing a broad range of resources (references), training aids (charts, audio-visual equipment), and equipment for exhibit and/or demonstration purposes.
Training objectives to be accomplished through the distribution of printedliterature, posting of promotional material and through oral presentation at general assemblies, as well, as small groups.
Responsible for all equipment, excluding technical industrial hygiene monitoring equipment, placed in his/her custody.
The incumbent must be qualified or capable of achieving proficiency in the accurate and reliable operation of said test and calibration equipment.
Assists and advises the Safety Manager and the Facilities manager in all aspects of safety, occupational health and fire protection, and may serve as the safety Manager's alternate in the absence of the Safety Manager.
Training objectives to be accomplished through the distribution of printed literature, posting of promotional material and through oral presentation at general assemblies, as well, as small groups.
Plans, develops directs, conducts and reports of safety inspections of VAMC facilities and private institutions/dwellings, assuring compliance with applicable Federal, State and local Building, Fire, Occupational Health and Safety Code requirements.
Training objectives to be accomplished through the distribution of printed literature, posting of promotional material and through oral presentation at general assemblies, as well, as small groups.
This is a bargaining unit position.
Tour of duty:
Monday - Friday; hours to be determined.
A relocation incentive is not authorized for this position.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
