Telephone Operator
Operates a multiline telephone system to receive, answer, resolve and connect incoming and outgoing calls.
Routes the calls to their proper destination and provides telephone and organizational information to callers.
Furnishes information to callers concerning clinic appointments, cancellations, reschedules, telephone extensions, organizations, functions, and staff members.
The employee has the responsibility of maintaining a detailed written record of all reported telephone troubles, exercising poise, tact, diplomacy, and resourcefulness in handling the calls.
The incumbent receives, screens, and completes all calls.
Handles all collect, and conference calls.
Also is responsible for the fire alarm notification system which includes the fire telephone and the fire alarm code tape to be read and notifying all key personnel of the incident.
On irregular tours of duty, the operator has the responsibility of preparing a daily off-duty roster for off-duty hours on all phases of the operation of the Medical Center.
The operator is solely responsible for notifying the Cardiac Arrest Team upon notification of a cardiac arrest.
