Supervisory Medical Records Administrative Specialist

The Supervisory Medical Records Administration Specialist serves as the Health Information Management Section (HIMS) Chief for the Northern Arizona VA Health Care System.
The incumbent provides direction and supervision to the HIMS section and serves as the expert for Health Information Management programs including, but not limited to, medical record management systems, release of information, transcription services, coding, file room functions, etc.
The specialist ensures all work is within the guidelines of The Joint Commission (TJC), Office of Inspector General and all other regulatory authorities.
The specialist manages the performance of clerical work in support of the care and treatment given to patients, such as receiving patients or maintaining patient files; work administering or advising on medical record systems; or work maintaining medical records in a ward, clinic or other such unit of a medical facility.
In addition, the specialist advises on and administers medical record systems to ensure they meet the procedural, legal, and administrative requirements concerned with the admission, treatment, transfer, and discharge of patients.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
