Summer Camp Administrative Staff

Summary/Objective:
Provide an effective camp program by providing direct assistance to the Camp Director and Assistant Camp Director as needed.
Supervise and support Unit Leaders, Unit Counselors (unit staff), and Junior Counselors.
Work directly with unit staff and girls, ensuring active involvement of staff in all aspects of camp.
Supports and encourages staff growth and professional development and actively promotes and supports Camps mission and goals through the Girl Scout Leadership Experience to ensure the delivery of a quality experience for campers.
Reports to:
Camp DirectorSeasonal Position - Must be available - May 14 through July 31.
Essential Functions:
Business Management Ensure all office, program, purchase of supplies, sales, and supervision of campers and staff are met throughout the summer season.
Ensure all rosters are accurate, and printed forms are ready for the week session.
In conjunction with Camp Director, ensure the timely completion and/or submission of purchase orders, receipts, and invoices.
Coordinate payroll submission for camp staff.
Program Organize and coordinate all-camp activities and specific camp session support.
Organizes camp session program binders, complete with suggested activities and lesson plans.
Works in conjunction with Unit and Program Instructors to create weekly schedules for girl-driven, safe, creative, and educational program for campers.
Coordinates use of facilities, supplies, equipment, and activities to ensure unit schedules meet session goals and activities are balanced and geared toward campers' ages, interests, and abilities.
Support and promote campers and fellow staff to take risks and seek challenges.
Staff and Camper Support Meet regularly with Camp Staff Team (1-3 times weekly) and communicate important updates.
Provide supervision, support, guidance, regular and consistent feedback.
Create an environment for staff togetherness using connective activities during staff time-off.
Assist in the planning and delivery of pre-camp, in-service staff trainings and weekly meetings.
In coordination with the Camp Director facilitate staff development and evaluations to ensure staff are working at their best and placed in appropriate working units.
Oversee food service/dining hall operation to ensure procedures are followed and foster an environment of consistent order for campers and staff.
Assist with conflict resolution in units when needed.
Health and Safety Assist Health Supervisor to provide safe and wellness to staff and campers.
Relieve and support the Health Supervisor when needed.
Ensure that all activities are carried out in accordance with safety standards.
Provide direction and support to ensure a clean and healthy camp system.
Support transportation of campers and staff for further medical treatment and/or emergencies as determined by the Camp Health Supervisor.
Desired Education and
Experience:
Current First Aid and CPR certification (provided).
At least one season (six weeks) of experience in a supervisory capacity, preferably in organized youth activities.
Skills and experience for designated program areas within the past three years.
Knowledge and experience in coordinating, implementing and supervising youth programs.
Ability to think and act calmly in a crisis.
Current driver's license and a safe driving record.
Ability to safely drive a passenger vehicle with passengers.
Additional Eligibility
Qualifications:
Preferred Minimum 21 years of age.
Ability to communicate with, and provide direction to, staff and campers of varying age and skill levels.
Cognitive and communicative ability to manage multiple areas of camp program and operations.
Ability to visit and inspect for sanitation and safety of the camp's living units, program areas, food service, health care and office.
Knowledge of common camper illnesses and proper sanitation in group living communities.
Ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards related to camper supervision.
Ability to keep accurate, legible records.
Physical Demands:
Prolonged standing, bending, stooping, walking long distances, hiking, climbing, and stretching; requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity to manipulate outdoor equipment and camp activities; requires reasonable range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate camper activities/programs.
Ability to lift to up to 40 lbs.
Must be able to sit at a computer terminal up to three hours at a time.
Ability to share living quarters with other staff (in the outdoors which may include, but not limited to directly on the ground, primitive camping, rustic cabins, or dormitory cabins).
